Brad Keselowski confirmed he made an unsolicited bid to buy RFK Racing outright and that the team’s other owners turned it down in the past week, Sports Business Journal reported Friday.

The offer went to Jack Roush and Fenway Sports Group, the other two members of RFK’s ownership group. Keselowski joined them as a co-owner and driver in 2022 and is leaving the team after this season.

Keselowski: ‘A pretty solid and significant offer’

“I would say yes, there is truth that I made an unsolicited bid to buy RFK Racing; that was denied in the last week,” Keselowski told SBJ. “I think it was a pretty solid and significant offer.”

He declined to say whether other investors were part of the bid or what his next move in NASCAR will be. RFK Racing declined to comment.

Keselowski said he still wants to own a team.

“As Madison Avenue has really taken a whole new notice of NASCAR, and the team ownership model in particular after the settlement of the lawsuit, I think there is increasing interest — rapidly increasing interest — in NASCAR team ownership,” he said. “And it’s something that I desire to be a part of.”

The split with RFK

RFK Racing announced on September 29 that Keselowski would leave the No. 6 Ford after the 2026 season and that it would look to buy out his ownership stake. RFK president Chip Bowers later said the team wanted Keselowski to move into a full-time competition role over the next two to three years, while Keselowski wanted to keep racing.

“I’m nowhere near ready to be done as a driver,” Keselowski said in a statement after the announcement, according to NASCAR.com.

At Charlotte earlier this month, Keselowski said “there’s some really good opportunities” for him but did not name any.

His record at RFK

Keselowski, the 2012 Cup Series champion, has one win with RFK Racing, at Darlington Raceway in May 2024. The team has won seven Cup races since he arrived, including five by Chris Buescher and one by Ryan Preece.

He races next in Sunday’s YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama, where he has six career wins, the most among active drivers. It is his last Talladega start for RFK. The race starts at 2 p.m. ET on NBC.
