Brad Keselowski will remain a passive investor in RFK Racing but will give up his role in running the team, and he is free to drive for another organization, RFK announced Saturday morning.

The announcement came shortly before Keselowski’s scheduled 11 a.m. ET news conference at Martinsville Speedway, where he is expected to answer questions about his future.

RFK’s statement

“RFK Racing and Brad Keselowski have come to a mutual agreement that will allow Brad to continue his driving career with another organization,” the team said in a statement posted to X. “Moving forward, Brad will be a passive investor of RFK Racing, thus concluding his role in governance, competition oversight, and board participation.”

“We thank Brad for his many contributions to RFK Racing and wish him the best of luck with the remainder of his racing career.”

The statement means Keselowski keeps a financial stake in the team but no longer has a say in how it is run. RFK did not say how large his stake is.

How it got here

RFK announced on September 29 that Keselowski would leave the No. 6 Ford after the 2026 season and that the team would look to buy out his ownership stake. Keselowski joined the team as a driver and co-owner in 2022, alongside Jack Roush and Fenway Sports Group.

Last week, Keselowski confirmed to Sports Business Journal that he made an unsolicited bid to buy RFK Racing outright and that it was turned down, as Pit This Time reported.

“I would say yes, there is truth that I made an unsolicited bid to buy RFK Racing; that was denied in the last week,” Keselowski told Sports Business Journal. He also said he still wants to own a NASCAR team, citing “rapidly increasing interest” in team ownership.

On Tuesday, Keselowski said he would address questions about his future at Saturday’s news conference, as Pit This Time reported.

His record

Keselowski won the 2012 Cup Series championship with Team Penske. He has one Cup win with RFK Racing, at Darlington Raceway in May 2024.

He has two races left in the No. 6: Sunday’s Xfinity 500 at Martinsville, at 2 p.m. ET on NBC, and the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 8.
