RFK Racing will swap car numbers in the Cup Series in 2027. Ryan Preece and his No. 60 team will move to the No. 6, and the current No. 6 team will become the No. 60, the team announced.

RFK said details about the No. 60 team for 2027 will be announced later.

Keselowski’s No. 6 opens up

The No. 6 Ford has been driven by co-owner Brad Keselowski since he joined the team in 2022. RFK released Keselowski to drive elsewhere in 2027 and he will remain only a passive investor, as Pit This Time reported. Sunday’s finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway is his last race in the No. 6.

Moving Preece into the No. 6 puts him in one of RFK’s two permanent charter cars, along with Chris Buescher‘s No. 17. Preece’s No. 60 has run this season on a charter leased from Rick Ware Racing that can only be leased for one year, RACER reported in May.

A third car either way

RFK president Chip Bowers said in May that the team will run three Cup cars in 2027 whether or not it secures another charter. He said buying a charter was the top priority, and that the third car would run as an open entry if the team could not get one, according to RACER.

RFK has not said who will drive the No. 60 next season.

Preece’s place at RFK

Preece joined RFK in 2025 to drive the No. 60, and the team exercised its option to keep him for 2027. He made the Chase this season but is out of title contention. He was fastest in practice at Martinsville last weekend and led in Stage 1 before a wheel came off his car, as Pit This Time reported.

What’s next

The Cup Series season ends Sunday, November 8, at 3 p.m. ET on NBC from Homestead-Miami Speedway.
