Kyle Larson will go back to his dirt racing roots the week after the NASCAR Cup Series finale, racing both a USAC Midget and a 360 Sprint Car at the Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, California.

The Hangtown 100 is November 13-14, with both divisions racing each day.

Larson’s home track

Larson, from Elk Grove, California, made his first career sprint car start at the quarter-mile dirt oval in 2007 and got his first sprint car win there later that season. He clinched the 2010 Golden State KWS-NARC Series championship at the track.

He has won the USAC Midget portion of the Hangtown 100 twice, in 2019 and 2023.

Larson is also a co-promoter of the event. He partnered with Russell Motorsports in 2025 to help run the Hangtown 100.

The event

The Hangtown 100 features two days of USAC National Midget Championship racing, ending with Saturday’s 100-lap feature, which pays $10,000 to win. The winged 360 Sprint Cars race both days, with $2,000 to the feature winner each day.

Racing starts at 2 p.m. PT on Friday and Saturday, with grandstand gates opening at 1 p.m. PT. The event streams live on FloRacing.

First, a championship

Before he gets to Placerville, Larson can clinch his third Cup Series title on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He leads Christopher Bell by 67 points and Denny Hamlin by 70, and needs nine points to clinch.

Larson, who drives the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, won the Cup title in 2021 and 2025. He has kept racing dirt throughout his NASCAR career, and he is one of the most successful midget and sprint car drivers of his generation.

Larson said he feels confident heading to Homestead, but that “crazy things can happen,” as Pit This Time reported.

The Cup Series finale is Sunday, November 8, at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.
