Kaulig Racing confirmed Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway that Ty Dillon and AJ Allmendinger will drive its Dodge Chargers in the Cup Series in 2027.
Dillon will drive the No. 10 and Allmendinger the No. 16. Team owner Matt Kaulig and CEO Chris Rice made the announcement with both drivers on stage.
Rice: ‘He graciously said yes’
“Ty has been with us a long time,” Rice said. “We signed Ty up to go through this effort with us, and he graciously said yes. So these are our two drivers. Ty is in the 10 car next year. AJ Allmendinger is in the 16 car next year in the Dodge in 2027.”
Allmendinger had already been announced as signing an extension with the team.
A third car at Daytona?
Rice said Kaulig wants to run a third car in the Daytona 500, but has not talked with Brad Keselowski, who won Dodge’s last Cup championship in 2012.
“So we do want to run a third car,” Rice said. “We would love to run a third car at Daytona. There are some stipulations that we have to go through with Dodge and Matt to be able to make that work. We do want to run one.”
“We have not, honestly; we have not talked about Brad Keselowski other than what we see on social media and what we see everywhere else. So we haven’t had that conversation, but we would love to run a third car, yes.”
Keselowski is a free agent after RFK Racing released him to drive elsewhere, as Pit This Time reported. He has said he had not had a meaningful conversation with Dodge or Ram.
Dodge’s return
Dodge announced Monday that it will return to the Cup Series in 2027, starting with the Daytona 500, as Pit This Time reported. It will be Dodge’s first Cup program since 2012.
“Everyone said it was impossible to get back in one year. We said, ‘watch this,’” Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis said in a press release. “Sure, we could spend three years planning, testing and perfecting … or we could do all three in real time, on the track. It’s going to be exponentially harder this way. But slow has never been part of Dodge DNA.”
NASCAR has said it will not add charters for Dodge, so Kaulig’s two charters will carry the program. A third car at Daytona would have to race its way into the field as an open entry.
The 2026 season ends Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.
