Justin Allgaier has signed a multi-year extension to stay in the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, but the 40-year-old said he is not chasing any spot on the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series all-time wins list.

Allgaier, the 2024 series champion, leads Jesse Love by 22 points and Corey Day by 23 going into Saturday’s championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Allgaier: ‘I will not be here that long’

Allgaier told Steven Taranto he has never set a win total as a goal.

“There’s never a (win) number that I’m chasing; there’s never a position that I’m chasing. Look, I can get to Mark Martin: it’s just 15 (wins). He’s at 49, and I’d have to get another 54 to get to Kyle Busch after that,” Allgaier said. “That’s a lot. I will not be here that long, I can assure you that.”

“You know, it’s funny, when I came to this sport, I wanted to win one. That was it. If I won one race, I would have had a successful career,” he said. “Honestly, I do this because I love this sport. I love the people that I have around me. I love the fans.”

Allgaier has 34 career O’Reilly Series wins. Kyle Busch holds the record with 102.

Kelley Earnhardt: ‘Once a racer, all a racer’

JR Motorsports co-owner Kelley Earnhardt Miller said on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that Allgaier went into 2026 in a contract year while his family’s business was pulling him in different directions.

“I think when he went into this season, as a lot of people do, you just evaluate where you are. He’s checked off so much in his career and checked off that championship and things like that,” she said. “His family has a business and they’re really strong in the dirt world and dirt racing. His dad was having some issues there and so Justin was being pulled in a lot of different directions.”

“I think the strength of his team and himself and the success that they continue to have, it’s kind of hard to stop doing it. I know racers have always said, ‘Once a racer, all a racer,’” Earnhardt Miller said. “We’re happy to have him back for a couple more years.”

A career year

Allgaier has a series-high six wins this season and won the regular-season title. He took the points lead at Martinsville when Love had a nightmare day, as Pit This Time reported.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championship race is Saturday at 5 p.m. ET on The CW.
