Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks said the “big team changes” Shane van Gisbergen mentioned after Martinsville are focused on the competition side, and that the team will reveal them within the next three weeks.

Marks also said he has no seat open for Brad Keselowski next season. He spoke on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Marks: ‘All really focused on the competition side’

Van Gisbergen said after finishing fifth at Martinsville on Sunday that Trackhouse has “some big team changes coming,” as Pit This Time reported, which set off speculation about the team.

“You know it’s funny, you make a comment like that, there’s already this noise,” Marks said. “People are just making these stories up, and there’s like all this stuff going around about our team, and I kind of I’m just observing it from afar.”

“This is no different than what I’ve been saying, really, like the last month, month and a half, is that we are making changes, but it’s all really focused on the competition side. We have got some amazing talent coming into this race team. We have a couple of really, really good things that I just want so badly to talk about right now, but I just can’t yet.”

“The point is that we have identified where in the organization improvements need to be made, investments need to be made, and those are all starting to come to fruition.”

‘The next 14 to 21 days’

Marks said Trackhouse has to do things differently from the sport’s biggest teams.

“Especially in NASCAR where you’re competing against Penske and Gibbs and Hendrick, you can’t do the same thing that they’re doing and expect better results,” Marks said. “You have to start to think innovatively. What can we do a little bit differently? How can we approach things in a new mindset to give us a competitive advantage? And that’s what we’re doing, and I’m excited about it, and I think you’ll be hearing a lot in the next 14 to 21 days.”

‘I don’t have a seat open next year’

Keselowski is a free agent after RFK Racing released him to drive elsewhere while he stays on as a passive investor, as Pit This Time reported. Marks said his 2027 lineup is set.

“I don’t have a seat open next year, I can tell you that. We’ve got Connor Zilisch, Shane van Gisbergen and Ross Chastain driving for us next year, so we just have really limited opportunity,” Marks said.

“Brad is one of those guys who is incredibly talented, he’s incredibly experienced, and when somebody like that publicly says I am not going to continue doing what I’ve been doing, and I’m open to opportunities, like that phone rings, and I would imagine he’s having conversations with everybody,” Marks said. “That guy is certainly not done making his mark in this sport, that’s for sure.”

Denny Hamlin said Saturday that putting Keselowski in 23XI Racing’s part-time car would not be a long-term play for his team, as Pit This Time reported.

The Cup Series season ends Sunday, November 8, at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
